This online course is designed as an introductory lesson for students interested in learning about the basics of residential electric service and associated issues affecting the home inspection process.
The course provides: (1) an introduction to the basics of electricity, (2) information on residential electrical systems, and (3) inspection guidelines to aid the home inspector in evaluating the electric systems typically encountered in residential construction.
Upon successful completion of this course, students should:- Understand the principles of electricity
- Understand basic electric terms
- Be able to identify and describe the major components of a residential electric system
- Know what is involved in inspecting residential electric systems as part of a home inspection
- Be able to identify many common electric concerns and defects
- Understand common home inspection reporting issues
