The General Accredited Appraiser (GAA) designation is awarded to appraisers whose education and experience exceed state appraisal certification requirements and is supported by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS.
CRITERIA for the designations are:
REALTOR® or Institute Affiliate membership in the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS. An Institute Affiliate member must be a designee of one of the following five NAR affiliates: IREM, CCIM Institute, RLI, CRE or SIOR
A minimum of 1,000 hours experience in addition to the experience is required to obtain state certification
60 hours of tested course work in addition to the Appraiser Qualification Board's education requirement at the time of certification
A one time application fee plus the quarterly pro-rated amount of the annual maintenance fee for each designation

Appraisal Designations Fast Track Program
Eligibility
Appraisers who are members of the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) and hold designation in qualifying NAR Affiliate organizations, (ALC, CCIM, CPM, CRE, CRS, SOIR) may attain the GAA appraisal designation on an accelerated or Fast Track basis.
Requirements
Be a member of NAR as either a REALTOR or an Institute Affiliate member
Hold a qualified Affiliate designation
Hold a current state certified appraisal license
Education
Designation education is accepted in lieu of additional appraisal education for ALC, CCIM, CPM, CRE, CRS, or SIOR designees.
Application
Complete and submit the official Fast Track application
Include a letter from the NAR Affiliate organization that verify the status as a member in good standing
Include a letter from the local Association of REALTORS that verifies status as a member in good standing
Submit the application fee of $100 for each designation requested
