Eligibility Requirements
The General Requirements For Obtaining A Real Estate Agent License In Maine Include:
Being At Least 18 Years Of Age
Having A High School Diploma Or GED
Providing NotariMaineed Recommendations From At Least 3 Persons Stating That The Applicant Has A Good Reputation For Truthfulness, Honesty, Fair Dealing And Competency
Providing A Written Statement From The Employing Broker AuthoriMaineing The License
Having A Criminal Record Check Performed
Paying Applicable Fees
Maine Real Estate Sales Agent Licensing Requirements
The Requirements For A Real Estate Sales Agent License In Maine Include:
Completing The Introduction To Real Estate Educational Course
Passing The Examinations
Applying For The License Within One Year Of Having Passed The Exams
*Note: A Sales Agent In Maine Receives A Two Year License Which May Not Be Renewed.
Maine Real Estate Associate Broker Licensing Requirements
Applicants For The Associate Broker License In Maine Need To:
Complete Two Full Years Of Active Licensure As A Sales Agent In Maine During The Previous Five Years
Take The Mandatory Coursework
Pass The Associate Broker Examinations
Applying For The License
Maine Real Estate Broker Licensing Requirements
The Requirements For A Real Estate Broker License In Maine Include:
Being Actively Licensed For At Least One Year As An Associate Broker In Maine Within The Three Years Immediately Preceding The Date Of Application
Completion Of Two Years In An Approved Degree Program
Completion Of The Role Of The Designated Broker Course
Applying For The Broker License Within One Year Of Completing The Course
Main Real Estate License Renewal/Continuing Education Requirements
Once Licensed, All Agents Must Complete 15 Clock Hours Of Continuing Education Before Renewal Of Their License. The Licenses All Expire On December 31st Of Each Year. If The License Has Lapsed For More Than 90 Days It Will Not Be Renewed Without The Agent Taking The Examination Again.
